You could also join a charter trip out into deeper seas, hunting for game fish like Marlin and Kingfish to wrestle with - a thrilling sport. Surf-casting and long-lining off a beach is a popular way to catch your dinner, or you could languidly hang a line off one of the many wharfs.
There is a vast number of brilliant diving spots, including ship wrecks and reefs. Seafood such as Crayfish, scallops and paua are in abundance. If you're a novice diver or fisherperson, there are several excellent operators who can take care of all the details and see that you have an excellent day out on the water.
