The Bay of Plenty is one of New Zealand's premier boating and fishing destinations.

Both harbour and sea offer up plentiful 'plate' fish such as Snapper and Terakihi. Catch a few fat Snapper and bring them back to Cutterscove to put on the BBQ.

You could also join a charter trip out into deeper seas, hunting for game fish like Marlin and Kingfish to wrestle with - a thrilling sport. Surf-casting and long-lining off a beach is a popular way to catch your dinner, or you could languidly hang a line off one of the many wharfs.

There is a vast number of brilliant diving spots, including ship wrecks and reefs. Seafood such as Crayfish, scallops and paua are in abundance. If you're a novice diver or fisherperson, there are several excellent operators who can take care of all the details and see that you have an excellent day out on the water.

Diving off White Island is said to be one of the world's most exhilarating dives.
